ABOUT US

Village-Works is an art therapy program created by Vanessa Fiore.  Our objective is to provide guided art classes to those in need.  We have partnered up with Union Hall Arts, located at Tony’s Baltimore Grill in Atlantic City, NJ, which is where we host ALL of our classes.  Zack Katzen of Create 48, is the coordinator for those classes.  It’s important to create a safe space for people to escape from their daily stressors while being able to create something original.  We focus on same day projects so that our students can leave with a sense of completion and pride.  We believe in the healing power of art and are honored to serve our community.

MY BOOK

Sometimes we form friendships in the most unlikely places.  Sometimes we gain confidence in moments where we feel the most uncomfortable.  This is a story of a single father and his daughter navigating life, family and an activity that changed it all-ART.  You never know who or what is going to change your life, but you have to be open to it.  Follow Shenita’s journey, as she is pushed out of her comfort zone and into a brand new world of possibilities.

Proceeds will go to fund more free art classes.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

BARBARA

The experience is more than I could have ever imagined.  Being here is such a safe space.  The way that I was blessed to come in today, was that I happened to see a post about bereaved moms.  As a bereaved mother, I don’t find a lot of opportunities to say my daughter’s name and have somebody ask me about her

RAYMOND

For first-time users, it’s an interesting class.  It doesn’t matter if you know anything about art.  It’s no pressure.  It’s a relaxing environment.  The instructor is very knowledgeable, she will answer your questions, give you good ideas about where to begin and how to approach the craft.  Class was only an hour long and I wouldn’t mind if it was a little longer.  I definitely enjoyed myself.

IANNA

I thought it was awesome because I got to make abstract art and my art teacher didn’t really allow me.  She thought only 4th graders could do it, and I’m in 3rd grade.  I got to make my art look better than Mr. CJ’s.  I love coming to the class, meeting people and seeing everyone again and again.
